From the Meetup Group…..

Winter Solstice has passed, and the days are growing longer, moving toward spring abundance, yet nature remains quiet. The leaves have not yet returned, the birds will not begin singing for many more weeks, and the flowers remain still beneath the soil. But in this season of browns and greys, beauty is all around. On a silvery, bare, small shrub, a bright red cardinal sits unaware of his breathtaking beauty. In an open area, the grasses remind us beauty can be subtle, too, as they offer a canvas of shades of pure cream to rich auburn.

In this subdued time of year, nature gives us the wonderful gift of time for reflection and contemplation. Though we might find ourselves waiting, even longing, for the days when vibrant colors and musical bird songs return, we can also choose to place our attention on the beauty that is all around in this very moment. Nature and the practice of mindfulness remind us that, even in the midst of our own difficulty, sadness, anxiety, or illness, when many choices are taken away from us, there are choices which do remain available to us. Join us in exploring the beauty and quiet winter gifts nature has to offer as we practice mindfulness and mindful engagement of the natural world.
