Group therapy is an excellent way to find support while working through difficult experiences. Being a part of a group of people who uniquely understands the challenges and issues you are facing can be immensely helpful. It is often a relief to know you are not alone, that there are others who are struggling in similar ways. You can learn from each other, share knowledge and wisdom, and provide support to each other.
On a practical note, not only has research supported the effectiveness of group therapy for well over 30 years, but it is also less expensive than individual therapy.
Where will groups be located?
I facilitate groups at my office as well as at area parks for ecotherapy. Some ecotherapy groups will be offered as stand-alone, one-time groups, while others groups may be ongoing.
What is the cost?
Fees for group therapy will vary depending on the group and location, but, in general, should range between $40-$60 per session (1 to 1.5 hours). Fees for ecotherapy sessions that are held further than 30 minutes from my office may be higher to account for mileage costs.
Current (or forming) Groups:
Ecotherapy for Self-care and Attachment for Adoptive Parents (new group forming now)
Support Group for Parents Raising a Child Who Has Experienced Trauma (only open to participants of the Trauma-informed Parenting Class offered through the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center)
